THE COMIC CON CROWD

I never realized how amazing comic-cons were until I actually went to one.

I was going to ACE Comic Con Arizona for their January 2019 show. It was the first comic-con I had ever gone to. I was meeting Tom Hiddleston and my boyfriend was meeting David Tennant. We were so excited! We would be flying from Newark, NJ to Phoenix, AZ to finally immerse ourselves in the world of comic-cons.

The only issue was we had absolutely no idea what we were doing.

We had no idea what to expect when we got there. All we knew was the show started at 10:00 a.m. and where we had to go to get our photo ops. Aside from that, we were going in blind.

Could we get food in the venue? What was I allowed to bring inside? How long were the lines? How much money should I put aside for merchandise? What merchandise would there even be?

On the trip down, I tried searching for first time tips - yes, procrastination at its finest. And much to my surprise, I barely found anything. Most of what I found were veterans explaining things in a way that I just couldn't understand. So, I sucked in a deep breath, strapped my backpack tighter, and walked into that comic-con only knowing that Tom Hiddleston was on the other side of those glass doors.

Immediately, I fell in love with comic-cons. The atmosphere was full of supportive and passionate fans. I met so many new friends and learned so much more about myself than I had anywhere else. I discovered that it's okay to like what I like. It's okay to get excited over superheroes. It's okay to be a nerd.

That's why I'm here, writing this blog, talking to you. I want to be a guide into your comic-con career and show you the excitement that comic-cons bring to people. There's a lot of information to go through but we're going to take this journey together.
